Chapter Fourteen
EVEN THOUGH Dustin was working again—so they had five hands to cover the morning feeding—Vince still decided to get up with him the next morning instead of sleeping a couple of hours longer. He’d decided to start working with Xander twice a day, as they were getting closer to the next show and it was going to be a higher level than they were used to.
It was hard to force himself out of bed, though. Being able to hold Dustin without the cumbersome cast being in the way was nice. It was something he had waited a long time for, and he didn’t want to let go.
“Okay, Vince, I love you, but I need to pee.”
Vince gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and let him go. “Okay, fine.”
Dustin gave him another fast kiss in return before getting out of bed.
Vince sighed and forced himself out of bed too. He dressed in a pair of beat-up riding breeches and a plain gray T-shirt. When Dustin hugged him from behind, he was slightly startled, too absorbed in trying to decide which horses he planned to train in which order.
“It’s nice to have two useful arms to hug with,” Dustin commented.
Vince smiled. “I like it too.”
“It’s also nice that we had sex in bed last night. I really thought you had a thing for couches.”
Vince turned around to give him a mock glare, but seeing Dustin’s grin made him laugh. “You wanted to overwrite my memories of Jane with memories of you. Figured we could get those out of the way.” He gently pushed Dustin away so that he could make the bed. “Wait. I thought you were in the bathroom. When did you get dressed?”
“While you were off in la-la land,” Dustin answered. “Anyway, Jane lived here how long, and you only had sex in bed, on the couch downstairs, and at the cabin?”
Vince paused to think for a moment. “And the shower once. That’s it. I think.” Those memories never sat well with him, because he always remembered how it had never felt right, and he did everything to please Jane. He’d never gotten the same emotional satisfaction he got when he was with Dustin.
“I’ll remember that,” Dustin declared. “I think I’m succeeding, though, right? I doubt you let Jane make love to you.”
“She never offered.”
Dustin laughed. “Okay, I have nothing to say to that. I’m going to go find breakfast before we’re late. Or I’m late. I guess that’s what matters.”
Vince shook his head and finished making the bed as Dustin left. He found it interesting that Dustin had said “make love” instead of “fuck.” Dustin had even said the same thing when he had asked if he could make love to Vince. Not that Vince minded. He had always thought “fuck” was a horrible word to associate with sex unless it was with total strangers. Maybe Dustin felt the same way, considering whatever he had gone through before meeting Vince. It wasn’t something he was going to push about, though.
